Module 1: Principles of Accounting and Financial Analysis - This module will help you to understand the lifeblood of companies: financial accounting information. Preparing and analyzing this information is a key skill for every business person; it is used to evaluate investment decisions, the impact of different strategies on a company’s profits and for preparing business plans of start-ups.
In the first part, after learning the mechanics of double-entry book keeping, the course will give you an extensive overview of corporate financial statements, especially in terms of their structure and contents. Building on this knowledge, in the second part of the course, you will be guided to integrate the different parts of the financial statements and introduced to tools for analyzing a firm’s asset base, profitability and risk.

Module 2: Global Economics and Financial Crises - The module on economics will give you a solid overview of the ‘big picture’. The course will cover macroeconomic fundamentals and international economics. The focus will be on the larger economic relationships that influence a countries production, interest rates, the global trade flows and foreign exchange rates.
In the second part of the module, the knowledge will be integrated and special situations evaluated. The two prime topics are the analysis of the current financial crisis and the rise of emerging markets. The overall objective of the module is to provide students with a toolkit for analyzing the international economic and business environment.

Module 3: Principles of Corporate Finance - This module discusses the basic principles of corporate finance and provides the student with practical and state-of-the-art tools for supporting financial decision making and valuation.
In the first part, after discussing sources and uses of funds, the fundamentals of capital market theory and the cost of capital will be taught. During the second part, different methods for capital budgeting and project appraisal will be introduced, as well as concepts of advanced valuation.
A section on asset pricing exposes students to more complex financial instruments. The module closes with perspectives on corporate finance in an international context and financial distress.

Module 4: Foundations of Marketing and Communication - The discipline of marketing in central to any institution’s success, as it strives to ensure that customers are doing business with the respective entity, and not with competitors.
For that matter, a company needs to be able to observe and interpret customer behaviour, and subsequently excel on product development, pricing and promotion. Students will learn to address these issues, just as the proper way to communicate the respective message associated with a product or service. In today’s connected world, with its ample information networks, communication is a key ability for a corporation in order to sell its products.
However, today’s changing environment sometimes brings the need for communicating less fortunate circumstances that are affecting a company or its customers to the broader public. Considering this need, the module closes with a session on crisis management.

Module 5: Approaches to Strategy and Competition - Every business firm has to handle the forces of competition and needs a blueprint – or strategy – for addressing the challenges that arise from the threat of rivals.
Strategy is one of the most dynamic and interesting, but also most error-prone disciplines of business administration, as it sets a company’s course for doing business. This happens through answering two simple questions: what businesses – or industries – should we engage in, and how should we compete in them? The first question is concerned with corporate strategy, the second with competitive strategy. Together, they form the bases for this module. Besides analyzing the attractiveness of a particular industry, students will be exposed to the tools and frameworks for strategy development and implementation, both on the corporate and the business unit level.
At the end of the module, participants will also be introduced to means of external growth and for altering the competitive landscape, namely mergers and acquisitions.

Module 6: Managing People and Processes - Most things in life need structures to work. A company is no exception. In this module you will get an overview of structures in the corporate world and suitability for different kind of businesses. You will learn what it takes to lead a structured entity.
Organizational behaviour theory, however, does not stop at the company level; it also applies to individuals. As a consequence, you will also be exposed to issues of interpersonal dynamics, intercultural management and leadership. Covering the basics of negotiation and decision making will round your skill set in the last part of the module.

Module 7: Creating Value with Operations and Technology - This module deals with managing the actual daily business of a corporation – making and delivering a product or service. Operations management deals with transforming inputs into outputs that match customer needs and specifications.
As such, this module covers the fundamentals of production and manufacturing, processes, inventory and supply chain management, as well as logistics and distribution. Important aspects of technology and research & development management complement the course contents.

Module 8: Introduction to Entrepreneurship - Having one’s own company is the dream and ultimate objective of many graduates. In this module, we will give you an impression of how to do it. You will learn how to start new business ventures, be it for profit or in social/non-profit areas.
The course covers the fundamentals of determining the viability of business ideas, conceptualizing and launching them, as well as setting up and managing a start-up company. Writing business plans and handling venture capital financing are also part of the module, just as recommendations on how to best exit a successful firm. It will integrate a lot of the knowledge you acquired during the preceding modules.

Module 9: Integration Seminar and Group Project Presentations - At the end of the programme, you can put your newly acquired knowledge into action. Working on a comprehensive project with your team mates, you will revisit, apply and reflect upon the tools and frameworks that constitute the foundations of management.
This final module will enhance your ability to jointly use the theories and practices of the different management disciplines and integrate the various concepts for better decision making.
